Cleaning out your closet can be an overwhelming task, but trust me, a neat closet will make it easier to find your favorite shirt and put together new outfits. You will probably find clothing you forgot you even had! These 5 Tips for a Closet Clean Out will make the chore a breeze!
Start by taking everything, yes EVERYTHING, out of your closet. Buy new hangers and get ready to hang up all your favorites! Using all the same hangers will give your closet an extra fresh and neat appearance.
- Get rid of clothing that doesn’t fit! It’s ok to have a few “goals” pieces, but don’t let them take up too much space in your already overcrowded closet.
- Take a sweep through your closet and put anything you didn’t wear last season in a donate or sell pile. If you didn’t wear it, it’s likely not to be worn again.
- Keep only the items that are still in good shape. It’s important to be realistic and keep in mind that quality is better than quantity. If you have a pair of pants that should have been hemmed last year, chances are you don’t actually want to wear them that bad! A year?!
4. Don’t forget to go through your workout wear and all of your shoes too! Don’t love it? Haven’t worn it? bye-bye.
5. Take a break! Dividing up the clean out chore can help you to stay motivated. Once you get back to it, review your discard pile and decide if you can sell some items. Maybe it doesn’t fit or maybe its just not your style anymore, but if it is still wearable, someone else may love it! Sign up (it’s free!) on Poshmark to see your clothes, shoes and accessories.
